2017 Ram 1500 vs. 2017 Ford F-150

When we compare the 2017 Ram 1500 near Olean, NY, with the Ford F-150, we’re evaluating two well-built and ruggedly handsome vehicles. Both offer a choice of engines, have attractive and functional interiors and come equipped with a lot of the latest in tech toys. We’ll use the Ram 1500 Limited vs. Ford F-150 Limited—4×4 crew cabs–as both offer the highest level in trims. As a footnote: the Ford F-150 Limited has a substantially higher MSRP than the Ram yet the Ram 1500 outshines the Ford in a number of contests as you will discover.

Performance Comparison

Ford offers a choice of three EcoBoost® and two Ti-VCT engines in either V6 or V8 configurations where the Ram offers the 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6, 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 or an available 3.0-liter Ecodiesel V6. When we pit Ford’s 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 that churns out 385 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque against Ram’s 5.7-liter HEMI® V8, which produces and impressive 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque, we clearly see that the Ram 1500 comes out ahead.

Interior Comparison

In the cabins of the Ram 1500 Limited and Ford F-150 Limited we find gorgeous appointments such as heated front bucket seats in special leather trim, 10-way power front driver’s seat, heated steering wheel, integrated voice command with Bluetooth® and dual-zone automatic temperature controls. Where the Ford offers a black leather-wrapped steering wheel the Ram ups the wow factor with a wood/leather-wrapped steering wheel, an available power sunroof, as well as the Laramie Limited cluster and Longhorn interior accents. The Ford does come with genuine wood trim accents but does not offer a sunroof. Both trucks feature excellent connectivity—Ford with their SYNC® 3/SYNC® Connect controlled from an 8-inch screen, but Ram steps things up again with Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-inch display. Take the Ram 1500 for a test drive in Jamestown, NY, at Dave Warren Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and find out for yourself why the Ram is the victor.
